04 PDS Lights + Fog Lights = Blown Fuse ?
Hey, I haven't been on here in a while but had a question I hope someone could help me out with. I have a 2004 EZGO PDS cart that I have added the factory light kit and wiring harness to along with a 3 position key switch. Although the lights were sufficient they did not shine out very far so I added a couple of fog lights below the light bar that shine more of a driving beam. I ran the power to the fog lights off of the accessory position on the key switch so that they could only be turned on when the factory headlights were on. The fog lights have an inline 15amp fuse. The problem is that after having both on for about 10 or 15 minutes the 15amp fuse on the wheel well to the factory lights blew.
Is it safe the way I wired the fog lights into the headlight power wire? Is it safe if I just replace the blown fuse with a larger 20 amp or fuse or should I just wire the fog lights completely separate from the headlights to avoid the fuse issue? If I do wire them separately, which I assume is the best option, how can I have them only be able to turn on when the headlights do? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated, Thanks! |

Re: 04 PDS Lights + Fog Lights = Blown Fuse ?
Question, you used the same power source for the fog lights correct? You can still use your key switch option, but run a completely new circuit and have the fog lights have there own pos and neg run, or least pos run back to the fuse block, that way they both have there own power source.
I think I said that correctly. Adding a 20 amp fuse I think will be too much for the wire to handle, maybe someone else can chime in on that part. Hope this helps. |
