Battery Reading
I just checked all of my batteries using the Hydrometer and got around 12.40 or 1.240 ( I dont know the scale, in a forum here it is 12.40 but on the back of the hydrometer package it is 1.240) Specific Gravity readings. From what I understand they are about 50% to 75% still good, and these are Trojan T105's 05 models. Now with that being said it hasn't been charged in about a week or two but it hasn't been driven much maybe 5 min.. I wonder if I ought to charge them tonight and then recheck them tomorrow. Any thoughts??

Re: Battery Reading
Yes charge them and then take your readings the next day after they have settled.

Re: Battery Reading
The chart shows about 85%--Do like wilster734 said and take the readings again and check them with the chart--

Re: Battery Reading
Scotty they must of been taken care of pretty good before I got it. It was a cart off of Donald Trumps golf course, dont know which one though. I put the charger on it last night and when I get home today I will recheck and see what they show and repost numbers. Thanks all for this info.

Re: Battery Reading
I cant really believe my readings. I measured them today after the charger has been off since this morning and I got the following readings:
Bat #1 1.260, 1.270, 1.270 Bat #2 1.265, 1.260, 1.260 Bat #3 1.255, 1.260, 1.260 Bat #4 1.250, 1.240, 1.255 Bat #5 1.245, 1.245, 1.250 Bat #6 1.250, 1.250, 1.255 And a total Voltage across the whole pack was 37.73v Now what? the back of the hydrometer says readings from: 1.100-1.205 Battery cell is in discharge condition 1.205-1.260 Battery cell needs attention 1.260-1.300 Battery cell is OK I am confused or am I ok. Remember these are 05 Trojans!! |

Re: Battery Reading
Very well maintained batteries is what you got for being 5 years old. They are getting to the point of no return, but you still have some time even with them only coming up to 75-80% charge. I think though you may want to start shopping for batts soon .
