Default Fix Repair Renew Golf cart Battery Batteries

I posed this question to an online EBay seller:

Dear khk007,
What is the expected additional life from battery using this additive? If the batteries charged and worked for 6 additional months then died, would that mean, in your opinion, that this chemical worked or could I get my money back?
His reply:
I would suggest you buy new batteries.

Gorno,
I'm looking at the auction as we speak! Somehow the link gets corrupted when I copy and paste it here. The point of the post is still the same though even though the link isn't
'this stuff is snake oil'! Thank you for allowing me to quote you.

'Refurbish Fix Repair Renew Golf cart Battery Batteries' is the title of the auction and nowhere in there does it mention a name! so it must be some ingredients from his wife's spice rack.

Go to ebay and search item 310206286854 I think it is this one.

In response to getting your $14 back after 6 months, I would doubt it.
As Gorno said this stuff is snake oil. It may have been nothing more than epsom salts. Some/few claim success but generally it solves nothing other than possibly delaying the inevitable and as in your case 6 months.

Epsom salts have the added potential of causing a battery to Explode. The theroy behind the epson salts is that the saline crystals "scrub" the plates clean.... Great theory, but the residue of that scrubbing has to go somewhere, and it usually sinks to the bottom. Depending on the amount of residue "scrubbed" off, it could potentially cause a "link" between a positive and a negative plate internally which would cause the battery to explode.

This isn't my theory, this is the summary of what 3 seperate battery manufacturers have said in response to me asking what the potential gain/disadvantage of running Epsom salts in a battery would be.

Personally I hate cleaning battery acid off the internals of a car and I would never take the chance that the manufacturers are right......

I could be wrong here but my understanding of the Epsom Salts use is to:

1. Empty the acid from the battery, then
2. Add the Epsom Salts solution and allow it to soak in the battery, then
3. Empty the Epsom Salts from the battery and flood the battery inside with
water and empty. The object here is to try to empty out the detached
debris.
4. After rinsing then refill the battery with new acid.

I agree with Rabbitreborn about charging a battery with Epsom Salts in the cells being dangerous. And I also agree that trying to renew a battery is like trying to make a cat bark.

Just to clarify, I didn't purchase the snake oil offered on the EBay auction.
I arbitrarily selected 6 months for the EBay seller to respond whether the money back guarantee would be honored, I could have selected 2 months.
I knew that it would only delay the inevitable but wanted to hear it from the seller so I could warn others that may not be battery savvy viewing this forum.
