Series Cart Electrical Problem
Need some help.....i have power from the batteries to the solenoid and then out of the solenoid to the controller. The M terminal has power once the foot pedal is engaged and in forward. the foot pedal also works properly with no power then power when engaged. need to know where to go next to figure out the problem with this cart.

Re: Series Cart Electrical Problem
The Napa solenoid just might be the problem. Golf cart solenoids are continuous duty and auto solenoids are not. Also make sure you have a solenoid rated for 100amps continuous and 200 peak minimum for the stock controller

Re: Series Cart Electrical Problem
... constant NEG from the controller and POS from the peddle micro-switch via the key switch.

Re: Series Cart Electrical Problem
Trace it back to where you are losing the power.
Here goes: Power starts on the White wire on the 36+ of the battery pack. Power travels to the charger recpticle, goes through a reed switch inside the recpticle and comes out on the red 12 gauge red wire. The red wire travels back through the loom to the Forward and reverse switch where it attaches to a micro. The other side of that micro has a blue wire attached that runs under the cart to the front and arrives at the keyswitch. The keyswitch then transfers power to a green wire which returns to the area of the Forward and Reverse switch. the power then goes through a 4 pin Molex connector and travels to the "pedal Box" (located under the floorboard of the car) where it goes through a micro and comes out on another red wire. That red wire comes back up to the Controller/F&R area where it once again goes through the 4 pim molex connector and continues on to the small post of the solenoid. My suggestion would be to start at the beginning and follow the 36 volts along this path. If you aren't getting power to the Solenoid, it HAS to be failing at somepoint along that journey. |
