Default Batteries need replaced?

Hey guys, 2005 EZGO PDS, 36v

I have lost run time and power. When cleaning up my connections (first time since I bought it a year ago :( ) I noticed one of the wires eyelets is about burnt through. The first battery in the loop also has liquid on top, even after cleaning it up, I go charge or run it and more of it is on top.

I am guessing these are the orig batteries, is it just time to get new ones? Or is there something besides the $600 to replace them all...

5 year old batteries are typically about at the end of their useful life. Test voltage and SG and post results here.

Not sure how to test those things to be honest, the shop I bought it from said they could test the batteries for me.

If its time for new batteries, is it time to upgrade to 48v?

What would be the bare min to move to 48.

Batteries, Charger ?

Or do I have to get a controller, solenoid ?

Any thoughts?

That is a question only you and your bank account can answer.

I would personally say the bare minimum is:

batteries
charger
controller
HD solenoid (actually you COULD leave the original solenoid but you would be replacing it in short order....)
