Default Controller options for 48 volt upgrade

I am going to be purchasing new batteries in the next few months and I have decided to upgrade to a 48 volt system.

I have a 99 ez-go looks just like this guy:

I have read a bunch of the upgrade threads on here and I think I have a pretty good idea of what I am going to need.

I am trying to research all my options for controllers. I see alltrax mentioned almost exclusively but I know there are other manufacturers out there. I have done a little research on LogiSystems 480 amp controller looks like a good product for a decent price. I am trying to keep things as cheap as possible. I am also looking at the Alltrax NPX4834EZ. Both are non programmable.

Does any one have any other suggestions?

What price range are you looking to spen on the controller? What are the uses you plan on putting your cart to? What other upgrades to the cart are you planning in the future (lift kit, rear seat?)?

Alltrax is mentioned because they are typically the cheapest and most readily available, not because they are the best.

Rabbit

What are some other good options for controller upgrade? Alltrax is all I hear also. They seem like a good company what are the other good choices?

I would like to keep the project as cheap as possible with out sacrificing reliability. We just use it for jobs around the farm. It has a rear flip seat on it now. Speed is not a major concern. I am more interested in torque and pulling/hauling power. There may be a small lift in the carts future but nothing huge.

Personally I have been having REALLY good luck with the 500 and 700 AMP GE controllers. They are (on average) close to the price range of the the Alltrax controllers and they are better built in my opinion. I've always taken issue with Alltrax's case design. Why put a plug in the data connector hole (supposedly to keep out water), then leave 2 holes in the front of the controller for water to enter (the mount holes for the solenoid)?

I have a new/refurb 500GE controller in the classifieds. I was only a few months old and had water damage. GE said it was their fault and convered it under warranty. While I was waiting for warranty I dcouldn't wait and bought an Alltrax. Both GE and Alltrax are good performing controllers. I'm selling the GE 500amp cheap.

There you go.... top notch controller at a reasonable price!

rj, do you have the ITS converter for yours? with that model of E-Z-GO, he's gonna need one if he gets your controller.
