Default 95 medalist controller issue

Recently purchased 95 medalist non dcs cart. Previous owner changed controller three times in one year. Sounds like a lot of controller failures to me. Any suggestions before i install a new controller. Also what is controller part number for this cart. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps an upgraded controller is the best option at this point..... they cost more but at 3 a yr the saving will add up fast....

Is the cart modified at all or used for anything other than hauling 2 people and golf clubs along gently rolling paved pathways?

He was either running some poor rebuilds or he was consistently running the cart low on voltage....... take a good look at the quality of your cables, F&R switch, & battery pack. Maybe the motor brushes are worn?
I would consider an upgrade to at least 350 amps.

Thanks, any suggestions on what brand. Would you recommend using a rebuild?

I do install some rebuilds. This is usually a cost saving decision and some times results in another rebuild later? Maybe somebody else will chime in with different results.

Controller recommendation depends greatly upon what the cart is to used for?

Sorry, even the thought of installing a rebuilt controller brings nightmares. You haven't lived until the factory ships you 75 controllers that all have to be installed in 1 day because they screwed up and sent out a fleet of carts with rebuilt controllers in them and Bayhill has a massive tournament the next day..... I have seen far too many rebuilt controllers fail to ever reccomend a private customer install one.

I would recommend Alltrax or GE Controllers personally for aftermarket. I have ran both. My cart pictured in the avatar is a 95 Metalist with a newer 2000 TXT body. Same cart (chassis) as yours. My stock controller lasted for the first 7 or 8 years I owned the cart. The last few years the only upgrade was a 4500rpm GE motor. I could smell the stock controller cooking (burnt electronic smell) every now and then especially under heavy load. The stock controller finally bit the dust last year. I ran all stock stuff with the aftermarket GE motor for 4-5 years. The cart was pretty fast then about 14 mph and was reliable. My first of upgrades (not counting motor that is already there) was heavy duty 36V (GE controller) and then I stepped it up to 48V (Alltrax). Of course changing to 4 gauge wiring, HD solenoid and HD forward/reverse switch is recommend.

Would you recommend a new alltrax 400 amp controller?

I have had good results with the 400 AXE. I recently sent Gornoman one of these which he is using with his PQ motor (with great results) in his TXT.
