Default 20" tires on PDS

I have a 2006 PDS and have about decided not to lift it since some people seem to have problems with lifted PDS's. I have the stock 18" tires now and my question is could I replace them with 20" tires on 10" rims without needing a lift kit and without hurting the PDS? It would seem to me that I might gain a little speed and the cart may look a little better with the taller tires, but I am new to this. The other thing I am curious about is can the rear be raised about an inch by using spacers, ? I have added the rear seat and the extra weight seems to have lowered the rear slightly. Thanks in advance for any replys!!

Yes, you can run 20" tires under that PDS cart.

When you added the rear seat, fif you upgrade to HD rear springs? If not, doing so would restore the desired height and give you a smoother ride.

Lift it and drive it until the controller goes out which could happen really soon or not at all. If and when it does, put you a 400A Alltrax on it and you'll be happy-happy!!!!!

First thing you need to do is upgrade all of the battery cables to 4 ga. or thicker, 4 ga. is really all you need.

If you are going to put a 400DCX in the PDS cart do BEFORE the controller melts so that you have a good stock controller to sell to recoup some of the upgrade money and ..... you need 3 little #4 cables to reap the benefits of this install

My idea was to not lift it and not buy a new controller and cables, but was thinking 20" would give a slight speed increase and could get 10" mags for a better looking ride, just wasn't sure about clearance issues. I will look into rear HD springs.

So ...... you wanted to add 2 passengers plus the weight of the seat (weighs like another passenger) and put bigger tires on it without having to upgrade the drive system? The cart's original engineers didn't leave that much fat in the design, in my opinion, you are pushing it.

I have to agree Scotty... when I worked at E-Z-GO, we would advise people against even putting rear seats on PDS carts without doing upgrades to the drive system. PDS carts are excellent systems, as long as you play within their rules........

I really appreciate your opinion and thats why I am asking these questions, I haven't seen anyone posting about having controller problems from adding the seat and passengers, its usually the lifted carts. I was curious wheather most would think I could get away with the 20" tires on the oem controller.
Thanks

I think you would be fine if your batts stay in good shape and you replace all the wires to 4ga if they are more than 4-5 years old.

I have done a few carts this way with no effects. The issue I see is dont run the batts down real far b/t charges. The lower the batts get the more heat is generated the greater the chance you blow the controller.

Also add the HD springs. it will lift the rear 1/2 plus add stability to cart with rear passengers. You could also add the frt HD springs for more stability.

I've had no ill effects from lifting mine. I do have the 400 amp controller.
