Default Possible bad solenoid please help

Hello all,

I recently upgraded my motor to a D&D 4:1
controller to a 650 amp programmable ITS alltrax
all wiring to 4 gauge
heavy duty F&R switch
now the cart doesnt move.....unfortunately I think that I may have fried the solenoid.

The reverse beeper still works...but sounds different/wierd
I get no lel activity from the controller when I turn the switch, (If i bypass the switch the controller lights up green)
I get no sound from the solenoid in forward or reverse.

Myconfusion is that if I had fried my solenoid would I have known?

Did you purchase a heavy duty solenoid for that litte monster of a controller?

You used one of the wiring diagrams from Alltrax ?

Yes I used a heavy duty 400 amp solenoid....I used the wiring diagram from D&D and later compared it to the one from alltrax when I found out they were the manafacturer.

The diagram matched up well

Sounds like you are having trouble with the solenoid activation and controller power circuits..... can you post the diagrams you are looking at?

What golf cart are we working on?

It is possible that you have fried the solenoid (or it was bad out of the box) but since you later stated that you are using a 400 AMP, that isn't really all that common an occurance. You are using 4 gauge with a 650 AMP controller? You may want to re-think that and upgrade further to 2 Gauge. As for "bypassing the switch" and getting the controller to light up, can you please specify what switch you are refering to? Can you put a meter on the 2 small posts of the solenoid and tell us what voltage you are getting with car in gear, key on and pedal down?

Based on the ITS nature of the cart I am assuming a Medalist or a TXT

2005 txt cart with series motor

When i stated bypassing the switch I was refering to feeding the controller power directly from the battery pack and ignition, bypassing the F&R and solenoid both.

ok you need to follow power from the start to the finish on the control side.

Hook your black probe to the B- on the controller then follow the power wiring (start at the solenoid and work backwards)

Voltage to the red small post of the solenoid?
