I bought a 48v charger on Craigslist for $100. And just sold my 36v charger on Craigslist locally for $150. There are deals to be had.

why you changing from 48v to 36v , what did you do-

Wanna trade?

No way to convert it, Transformer cost more than a charger would cost. You'll have no problems getting rid of the 48 and finding a 36.
