Default new here to the electrics

well after a year of having my gas ezgo i seemed to inheritted a electric one. from what i can tell the model is a A1368. i believe this means it is a 1986 model. it just had new exide batteries in it . the lady says it ran approximately 6 months ago before her husband upgraded to a bad boy buggie.

Things ive found that need to be fixed:
1) new battery trays, they are in pretty bad shape.
2) new key switch
3) new battey cables

Questions :

i plan on using it to drive around the house and eventually take it to the deer lease.

1) what type of problems should i look for when troubleshooting the cart?
2) the batteries look like they dont have any water in them even though they havent been sitting for long. will they charge once i add some distilled water?
3) what upgrades would yall recommend after the cart gets running? i know i plan on lifting it eventually.
4) also could someone tell me a little more on this type of cart? are they notorious for being money pits?

The biggest problem with all this is the batts sitting for such a long time, the damage is already done...if they will charge it is hard telling how long they will last. As far as money pits, no, an addiction yes which leads to money pit Upgrade all wire to 4 guage, this is one of the better upgrades you can do. Someone will come along and give more information on your year of cart.
