Re: 1994 ez go with 4 terminal control box
there are service manuals avail in teh stickies for download.
If you cart has the A2 pin. Do away with that pin. It goes to the f-n-r switch. it tells the controller you are n rev to slow it down. the replacement controller will not have that pin. EZGO did away with it. I just did an older cart today with a bad "4-pin" controller that had an A2 terminal. |

Yes it does have the A2 pin ill do away with it. But I have another problem the resistor is getting hot when I hook up my batteries. New batteries new solenoid and new resistor. What could be wrong?

Re: 1994 ez go with 4 terminal control box
The A2 on a controller does not tell the cart you are in reverse......
The controllers that incorporated the A2 post had what is called "plug braking". In essence, Plug Braking allowed the motor the chance to slow down it's revolutions in the event you were moving in 1 direction and suddenly slammed the direction selector in the opposite direction. Yes, Curtis did eliminate this from later production carts, but that was due to the change in motor design (the fields in newer motors are better designed than they were in the old days) Bugkiller, if your resistor is getting hot, you have a bad resistor and need to replace it. Try eliminating the resistor altogether and see if you are getting a solenoid click at this point. If the cart you have has the controller located between the batteries, you CANNOT eliminate the A2 post from the controller without rewiring the car to some degree (basically you would have to locate the wire that runs from the A2 post to the F&R and replace this with a single wire going directly from the F&R to the motor rather than the 2 wires currently on the cart) |

Re: 1994 ez go with 4 terminal control box
I just replaced the resistor and solenoid. Do you mean taking it off all together? And my control box is on the side and the batteries are in the middle. Thanks

Re: 1994 ez go with 4 terminal control box
did you also replace the diode that goes between the 2 small terminals? If so, did you make sure the silver band is on the side closest to the red activation wire?
Yes, I mean completely remove the resistor and see if the cart will run. on your cart, you CAN remove the A2 wire that runs between the controller and the F&R switch, but I still don't reccommend it. |

remove both the diode and the resistor then try it. yes, replace the diode as well.

Re: 1994 ez go with 4 terminal control box
Ok I took off the resistor and the diode. Still no click. How do I know if my controller (brain) is bad? Or could it be in the electronics in the gas pedal? Thanks again for all the help this is my first golf cart.
