Default Hour meter

Where would you hook up a hour meter on an electric cart? I just picked up a new old stock curtis 483 quartz hour meter for $7.50. I thought that was a great deal.

Typically you hook the Hour meter to the Main solenoid.

The 483 is a 12v-48v unit.
I would connect it to the ignition switch and the negative battery side.

Being that it is 12-48v could i just hook it to the solenoid so i don't have to rip the dash apart?

Attaching to the solenoid is actually a better indicator to the real hours on the system. This way, the meter only records when the solenoid is actually engaged (cart is under it's own power). If you use the keyswitch, the meter will record whenever the key is on and the pedal is up (like coasting downhill or just sitting and chatting).
