Default Sring question?

Trailer springsfrom Northern tool are 1500(3000total)lbs. Would that be over kill for a golf cart???? Mine weighs 1050 lbs. Also,I foud a set that are rated at 540(1080)but are 28inchs while mine are 27inches. Will the extra inch be bad or would it matter?

I put some rear leafs on mine that are rated @ 2000 lb apiece. Found them at Agri-Supply. They are for making trailers. I chose those because they were arched way more than the HD rear springs I had on it and I needed the extra lift to match the 10" of lift I got out of my LT front lift. I have a rear seat on my cart and carry passengers a'lot and it rides nice, a little stiff but I figure if someone wants to complain then they should get their own cart

I too have trailer springs on my marathon from "Tractor Supply". As far as fit, the springs eye to eye were an inch diffrent than the factory springs. The shackles picked up the difference when I installed them. Mine have been on a over a year and I have not had any problems. I agree with Bokeasmowl that they create a stiff ride on bumpy terrain. But if you haul people or tow trailers then I believe you will be satisfied. Also, they were cheaper and the farm store was a 10 minute drive.

You could break apart the stock spring and add leaves to the capacity you desire as I did for my cart. The leaves from trailer home axles are the right width (I had an extra set from a trailer project). So all you need is longer center bolts.

Thank you all for input! I wondered about adding leafs to my springs,,,,may go that route, only prob is that the left spring on my cart is sprung(lol) and is about 1 1/2 inches lower than the right side. I have a 3 wheel (84) cart that I was gona pull the spring off of and put on my 4 wheel cart,,,think i will get a leaf or 2 and bolt and add to them.... agin people on BGW prove what a great bunch we have in todays world!!!
