Default battery wires hot and melting

i have an older modle ezgo elec. cart and the battery wires get so hot they are melting. what should i be checking that could cause this thanks.

could be resistance in cables if they are old.........try a new set of battery cables 1st and post results..............................

Make sure all the connections are clean and tight. If they are loose and/or dirty heat will build from resistance.

Agreed, Replace all cables with 4ga.

Had a similar problem, on the suggestion of these experienced folks, replaced the old wires, with good heavy gauge batt. connect wiring, problem gone. Old wires are corroded inside more likely than not, and need to go.
