Default 06 TXT controller questions

I just recently purchased an '06 EZGO txt bone stock. I have searched the forum and found answers to some of my questions. However, I'm still confused on a few things.

I'm in the process of installing a 6" lift, 23" tires, rear seat/bed, and offroad lights. This carts major use will be for hunting with hilly conditions. I plan to upgrade to 48v in the future, but NOT at this time. I'm looking at buying a 500 amp controller and 4ga wires for the cart this week, but I have a few questions about the upgrade.

For the controller, do I need to upgrade the solenoid or will I be alright for this hunting season? Will the FNR switch be alright until the 48V conversion next season? I think my cart is PDS series cart, correct? For the controller, I was looking at a Alltrax AXE 4855 500 Amp. Will this work for my cart? Is there another controller out there thats a better buy? Thanks in advance!

First we need to know if it is PDS or SERIES. It can't be both.

PDS has the F&R rocker on the dash, Series has the F&R handle on the seat wrap next to your right leg.

For $80 (or less) upgrade the solenoid now rather than getting stranded in the woods........

Okay, it must be series then. Sorry for the confusion.

The upgrade must be complete or the weakest link will melt. 500 amps will melt the stock solenoid and the F&R eventually. Will you make through deer season? Will it melt while you are 5 miles out with the extra lod of the kill on the cart? I dunno, but it will melt somewhere ~ Sometime. The AXE controller is correct for a Series cart.

Hopefully you are contacting one of our site sponsors like ScottyB for your upgrade parts. We try to frequent our sponsors as much as possible so that we can keep the forums open to assist folks like yourself.

Is there a list of the site sponsors besides the ads at the top? I tried looking the other day but to no avail.

I would stick with the site sponsors they are all great to deal with and you will find their prices as good if not better than anywhere else, I just ordered a 500a altrax controller from one of them and the advice and help I have received is invaluable and if you run into problems they are there to help. I am amazed at how many people purchase an item from someone other than a site sponsor then ask for help on BGW.

The way I look at it, support the site sponsors who support BGW.

Also I have a man crush on scottyb
