93 marathon electric motor testing
I have a 1993 Marathon 36 volt that fried the controller and I need to know how to properly check the motor to verify it is good.
It is manufactor code: 03L93, Ser# 776053, it has a Curtis 1204-027 Controller, Ser# P134443, 24-36 volt, 275 Amp. Also, in your opinion if the controller and motor are both shot, should I stop and consider it scrap? The cart is in good looking condfition and the fram an body are good - very little rust. Thanks for the help, |

Re: 93 marathon electric motor testing
No I would not consider the cart scrap. It may cost more to fix than you want to put into it ... then sell it cheap. You might find a used motor at one of your local shops?

Re: 93 marathon electric motor testing
Thanks guys, especially for the prompt replies! I will check out the motor and then proceed with getting a controller. Will post back when complete, may take a week to get done...
thanks again, |

Re: 93 marathon electric motor testing
Well guys, finally got the controller and time to work on the cart. My motor only has 4 terminals, not 6 like in the drawing and instructions on the link you supplied. Not knowing enough about the internals of the motor or controller, I did not want to try running the motor test.
I hooked the new controller up, verified all the connections and everything worked as intended. All is good and cart is back and running. Thanks to those that helped and happy motoring to you all. |
