Default Always check the easy stuff....

Stock 96 Cart quit running at a friends house last Sunday. Solenoid would engage but no go forward or reverse. I had a little time to troubleshoot during the week and was getting concerned that I might have a bad controller.
In the past, my non running issues have always been traced back to a bad connection at my battery pack.

A month ago, I replaced all the battery pack cables with new 4 gauge wires so I was pretty sure I was good there. Sure enough, no issues were found with the supply voltage.

Cut to today. I decide to really go through the control wiring before calling my controller dead. After finding good reference voltage on pin 4, I pulled up my pedal box to check continuity between the pedal box ITS and the controller.
Sure enough, open signals on the two ITS wires (BLK and WHT). I get under the cart and disconnect the 4 pin connector and check both the controller to the connector and the ITS to the connector. Guess what? Continuity checks out fine on both sides! BTW, the connector looks fine with no corrosion or pushed pins. Cleaning contact results in no improvement.

A few snips and I wire up a new harness bypassing the 4 pin connector and I'm back in business.

Funny thing is that cutting and stripping the wires at the connector showed the exposed ITS wires to be black. I had some continuity but certainly not what I should see with my meter.

I ended up cutting wires up by the controller, using the 6 pin connector but running new wire from there.

I've messed with electrical stuff for almost 30 years and can count the number of times that I've had an issue like this on one hand. It just reminds me not to forget about the small stuff.
