Default f/r lever-switch

ok just tossing around an idea here. on my 98 series cart with the f/r lever behind your right knee and a linkage that runs over to the actual switch that is kinda a PITA to switch from forward to reverse, can I just get a 2 way toggle switch to go from forward(up) to reverse(down) and neutral (center) it seems for my wife's girly little hands to be really hard to get it into forward. if it can be done what size switch would be needed, i would think it be doable its just getting a switch of the proper rating and wire ing to that rather than the micro switches

well i just went out and looked at it and ummm no dice. i didn't realize that you moved the contacts with that switch too.

The Forward/Reverse switch assembly on a series cart passes high current while changing the polarity to the motor. That is why it is so beefy to begin with.

You may be able to reduce the effort by backing off the nut on the backside of the shaft that holds the cam.

Another option is a solenoid setup to reverse the polarity to the motor. I do not have the drawings available, but I have seen members post them here with successfull installs.

Each one of the WR586 solenoids carry a hefty price tag .... Especially the 6 posters ... Try the obvious first. Check the handle is not rubbing the body. Remove clean and lube all linkage parts. Adjust F&R position (2 bolts in floor) to assure proper position for optimum linkage leverage.
