lifting a 05 pds?
I've read on this forum several times that it's not a good idea to lift and put larger tires on a pds cart. Kinda new to this and was wondering why.

Re: lifting a 05 pds?
I just had this discussion with Robbie at PlumQuick Motors yesterday .....
It has been explained to me that the sepex motors (that includes PDS) tend to generate more heat than the series motors, especially in situations where a lot of torque (high amp draw) is needed. The combination of putting tall tires on and crawling around the woods will generate excessive heat in a sepex motor, ultimately this heat will compromise the epoxy that binds the motor parts together. Eventually, resulting in motor failure. I hope this helps |

Re: lifting a 05 pds?
Is the motor the only thing that could get damaged? How about controller and solonoid?

The controller and solenoid are the first thing to give out on a PDS cart, if you are going to do upgrades, these are the first things that need to be upgraded along with you wires to 4 gauge.

Motors are the most expensive thing..... the controller and solenoid can also be damaged. If the motor, controller and solenoid is stock do not even try it ... IMO

Re: lifting a 05 pds?
I agree with scottyb on the Sepex (PDS) vs. Series motors. If you just want to fly around the neighborhood, a PDS upgraded will make you real happy. If slower driving and crawling around is your application then you'll want a Series motor.

What make, year, & model of golf cart?
What modifications & loads? what terrain? what speed? The more info you provide the more likely we can provide an educated answer |

Re: lifting a 05 pds?
It's an 05 pds cart. I want to lift it, put 22" tires on it and use it for mostly hunting. Mostly flat land but some hills. Haul 3 full grown men. Speed is not that important. I will be goin slow most of the time anyway.
Hope this helps! |

Re: lifting a 05 pds?
Slow is where it will generate the most heat. It will work I don't know how long it will last. Three men and a deer is 800 pounds plus .... Use a 400a alltrax DCX controller and a HD solenoid and 4g cables everywhere.
