Default Making a 2008 Electric RXV Remote Controlled

Hey guys,

We are a team of 5 Georgia Tech students who were just given a 2008 Electric RXV, and were asked to make it remote controlled by the end of November.

Any ideas / advice / help would be greatly appreciated. We'll probably be posting a lot of questions on here in the next six weeks.

Right now we just took off all the body panels, and are focusing on the gas and brake pedals. We are debating to either mechanically manipulate the peddles, or make a switch to bypass the rotary position sensor. One thing we have to keep in mind is that cart must be able to be driven manually, then easily switched back and forth into remote controlled mode.

We have a few questions to start off with.

1. We noticed micro switches behind the gas and brake pedal, what are these for ? Unfortunately we are waiting on a new battery so we can't turn on the cart and check these ourselves.

2. I know you guys get this a lot, but I can't find an online manual for our cart. I've read multiple posts and checked different websites, but the only manuals I could find were for 2007 or earlier. If anyone has access to the 2008 RXV owners / repair and service manual that would be awesome. We really can't afford to pay the $100 online for both of them.

Thanks for the help

Welcome to BWG
I know Club Car is in Augusta GA and I thought Textron (EZ GO) was also in Georgia. I would think they would be very accommodating to a state University.

Welcome to BGW

This Ezgo is the ac motor, and the 4-- 12volt batteries rite?

this should be easy-- Steering /brakes / go pedal / and shifter/ not to bad ---a piece of cake

The shifter - is a rocker switch on the dash rite?

Now what batteries are you going to use?

What volts are the RC controls going to be run on, AC or DC?

Roady is in to that RC stuff

Is this a project, drive it once and your done with it ?? or is this going to be driven all the time?

How much do you have to spend on this??/ if you got the cart free? then who is giving you the parts, got any sponsors.

this will be a cool build, I'am sure there will be a lot of suggestions, and take lots of pics

One is a throttle micro that will engage a solenoid or power to controller and the brake micro should be for the RXV's electric brakes.

Unfortunately I have yet to see an RXV manual online or in PDF format so you may be stuck with buying one.

The good news is the RXV is mostly electronic. You could possibly interface with the brake system and throttle electronically instead of mechanically. The only mechanical interface will be in the steering. I dont know enough about the RXV to really make any suggestions BUT if you need cheap RC gear like TX's and RX servos etc shoot me a PM.

RIB the RXV FNR switch is part of the key switch: turn to the right for forward and vice versa.
