Default wiring lights

i am puting some fog lights on that i got from wal-mart for halloween. the lights and horn that was on my old cart were wired up to 18 volts. Is this better than 12 volts. also is it best to put the switch on the ground or pos.

Put the switch on the pos, with a fuse--and do NOT ground anything to the frame, ground to the NEG on the batteries, and use 12v,--NOT 18v

You can put the lights on 16v, they'll be brighter but they maybe short lived. They were designed for 12v but will take a certain over voltage, 16v is stretching it, you won't know if it will work until you try it.

I have found that MOST driving lights available from automotive stores will carry 18 volts without a problem. when I enquired as to the build of them from Pilot, they told me that the lights are designed to take the output of a high output Alternator which can at times produce up to 20v of power.
