Default Charger Question/ EZGO-Club Car

My Ezgo auto charger doesn't seem to be working right. When I plug it into the cart it buzzes for a second or two then just cuts off. I took the charger up to the country club to connect it to another cart and I got the same result. Anybody have any suggestions? My buddy gave me a 36 volt Accu Power Club Car charger. Can I use it for my 36v ezgo? I know I will have to change out the cord.

The Accu Power output is 36V/21A

Not sure on my EZgo....

TIA!!

Jimmy

The early 36v CC Chargers are a stand-alone unit and it should work just fine... or your charger can be repaired.

How would I determine if it is old enough to work or if it has an "OBC"? What is that anyways? Will it hurt to swap cords and try it?

BTW, it is an ACCU POWER auto charger...

Thanks!

Jimmy

Actually, the OBC did not come into production until the appearance of the 48 volt cart... so any 36v charger will be okay.....

What year Ezgo do you have?

What does your charger port look like '94 was the change year from 2 flat prongs ( looks like / \ ) to 2 round prongs. The round prong carts have a third wire in the cart which must have a 36v + connection to get the cart to run... more later- which charge port do you have?

Scotty, I thought in 94 all the charger recpticles were simple SB50 plugs? I thought they went to the Powerwise style charge plug in '96? And the V-Prong was Pre-1990?

Rabbit you are just the guy we needed to hear from on this. I wasn't sure which is why i ask the OP what his port looked like... The CC used the V prong up until they went 48v.... What I was driving at was the reed switch by pass, if needed... Thanks

yeah, I don't think he has to be concerned about a reed switch on a '94. should be a simple matter to swap the 2 DC charge cords and use the CC charger for charging the E-Z-GO. I actually use an adapter at work that allows me to plug a V-Prong charger into a SB50 style harness.
