Smile 2004 txt/ what to do first to speed up?

I have a 2004 36v lifted with oversize tires and rear seat. As far as motor, controller and wiring it is stock. I mostly ride around on streets with small hills. I have a top speed of around 16-17 right now and woud like to see the low 20's. I have a forward/reverse below the seat not the little rocker on the dash and there is no switch on the control box so I don't think this is a pds machine. Please excuse me if that sound dumb, I'm a Electronics/DDC programer and repair Carrier/Trane industrial Chiller but just starting with golf carts. Best bang for the buck is what I'm looking for before I just start wasting money. Thanks

Welcome to bgw! Yes it's a Series cart.... No easy speed fix. You will need to change the controller and the motor for real speed. You can gain 4-5 mph by doing to 48v....

First off, Welcome to BGW, by what you have described you have a Series cart not a PDS, a PDS cart has a rocker switch for forward and reverse on the dash, with a toggle switch on the controller. The first thing you could do is upgrade to 4 gauge wiring. You could also upgrade the controller, that could give you some more speed.

Series cart controller upgrades should only give you torque, but it can't hurt. What's your budget? The more you spend the faster you go.

Think Plum Quick. I still haven't had the chance to swap out the motor in my bro's cart but we did a series 95 cc and it picked up 5 mph ish. If you are wanting to stay low in $$ go for the Bandit. Good upgrade and when you decide to go to 48, your ready.
