Starting my hunting rig
I have just ordered my fisrt parts to my future hunting buggy :D
I am starting out with a '99 EZGO Series TXT and plan on making the followding addtions in the order below. Upgrade to 4ga wires (ordered) Replace stock solenoid (MZJ 200/800 ordered) Replace stock F&R Switch with HD model Upgrade to 500a controller Replace or modify stock motor for a model with more tourqe. After these upgrades, I will then look into a lift, tires, rear seats, paint job, etc.... What do you guys think? Am I on the right track? I'm open to any and all recommendations. Thanks to Gary (rabbitreborn), Scottyb, and LostHusker for helping me to get the ball rolling |

Re: Starting my hunting rig
Clay, we need to know what size tires you want to run, what type of terrain you are running on and what kind of load you want to carry before you can start selecting the proper components for your cart
Give us some info |

Re: Starting my hunting rig
Scotty, if Clay is going to go hunting in the hill country in this area, there are some steep hills but nothing too terrible, with the 500a controller though Clay you need to look past your stock motor unless you turn down your controller.

Re: Starting my hunting rig
Right now I plan on a 6" lift with 22" tires. I would say the majority of the traveling will be on dirt roads with semi-rolling hills with the occasional off road experience. As for the load, I would like for it to be able to carry 2 people and some gear. I'm not too concerned with the final speed of the cart, I just want a good, reliable machine to get me around the deer lease.

I'm looking into modifying my stock motor through PQ if I can get away with it (much cheaper). If not, I will upgrade to a new motor. |

Re: Starting my hunting rig
The series motors are better at this than the sepex motors. I would not be afraid to run the 500 amp controller.

Re: Starting my hunting rig
Clay, As I said in my PM, until you upgrade the motor, if you go with the 500 amp Alltrax, you will HAVE to reduce the output of the controller to 80% output. Then once you have the motor upgraded, you can turn the controller back to 100% output.
I still believe we are on the right track with where we are going. |
