Default Slow upgrade to hunting cart

I am working my way towards a hunting rig one piece at the time. have a 2005 pds (I know that's not ideal to start with, but it's a learning process for me.) Anyway, I upgraded to the Alltrax400dcx recently and noticed a big improvement in torque. Last nite had it loaded down with 2 kids, 1 adult and gear and was traveling around half throttle for about 300 yards. I stopped for about 30 seconds to ck a camera and when i got back in the cart wouldbarely move at full throttle even. Could the motor get too hot and cause this or batteries? Any help is greatly appreciated.

since you have a 400 controller, what size cables are on the cart? If all cable are not 4ga. than I suggest you start there. Also what solenoid?

The controller could have went into protection mode since you were just putt puttin around. that is actuatly bad on the electronics on the cart.

what does the protection mode do? What electronics could get messed up? My primary intent is not to spook and animals, so I dont want to have to go full speed the whole time. Also, I believe it is 6 ga. wire. New wire going on this weekend.
