Default Solenoid Not Activating?

Hello. I just installed my new Alltrax DCX400 and HD solenoid yesterday. I turned it on this morning, and hit the gas, and...nothing.

After looking through the manual for the Alltrax, it seems to be working correctly. When I power it on, it blinks 4 times to indicate the throttle type, then solid green for "fully operational."

I tightened ALL of the cables with a ratchet wrench and still nothing. I tried again and hit the accelerator, and I wondered why there was no click like all of my other carts, I immediately figured it was the solenoid. Scotty pointed me in the direction of the activation circuit and gave me a few tips and tests to do. I will not be able to do anything until tomorrow.

I am going to do what Scotty said, but was wondering if anybody else had any ideas, since I took pics of the stock solenoid and controller setup and matched it.

ONE more major question, when I took off the original solenoid, the posts were...how do I explain this?...upside down. Then the new solenoid was rotated. See pics. FIRST pic is original setup, second pic is new setup.

Thanks sooo much!

A quick overview of the solenoid is :
The solenoid is a HD on/off switch or Contactor
the connection is made /broken between the 2 large terminals. The 2 small terminals are the activation circuit. typically one terminal will have a constant negative connection to the pack. When Positive power is applied to the second terminal the contact is drawn up against the spring to make contact. When power from either side of the activation circuit is removed then contact is released and the spring pushes it away interrupting the circuit ...It doesn't matter which terminal is neg or pos.

Okay now I understand. Thank you. Do you have a pic of your solenoid on your PDS? If it is the activation circuit it's got to be those blue, yellow, and red wires. Right?

Post Re: Solenoid Not Activating?

Here is the wiring of my solenoid.

Since the problem is with the activation circuit, I am betting it has something to do wit the red, blue, and yellow wires. Are they in the correct spot? I saw another guy's solenoid with the red and yellow wires on one small post and the blue on another small post.

Thanks so much!

I am by no means an expert at all and Scotty is the man to ask, but I have a question are the yellow and blue wires on wrong posts so should the diode be switched?

Hey kid, don't go changing anything until you speak to Scotty though. Here is a pic of my set up.

Kid, look at your alltrax diagram and you diode, according to the schematic your diode is backwards. The silver band should be where your yellow wire is.

Thanks Aussie. I can't tell which side of the diode on YOUR setup is positive, is it the side with the blue or yellow wire. Because if I have the blue on the positive side of the diode, and it should be on the neg, I will change it. I sent Scotty an email with that pic of my setup, but haven't heard back. THANKS MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!!!
