It didn't, it blew a battery, now its on a jack being rebuilt... only need some spot welds and a way to fix my axel and it'll be done!!! YAY!!!

Know I want to lift front even with back and replace leaf springs. Sure I am going to need ya'lls help later. Thank you all again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine produces the same smell but also works fine. All my batteries are full. could it be a bad resistor?

STOP RUNNING CARTS WHICH SMELL LIKE SOMETHING'S BURNING....IT IS.
These carts are a danger, in danger. The source must be found and the problem resolved before use continues...Electricity smells like smoke just before the fire! Search the cables and wiring to find hot or melted wires. It can be a bad F/R switch arching away...

That depends on whether the problem is bad wires or a bad switch. Old switches are somewhat rebuildable depending on the problem....my point was... saftey first. No sense cooking a cart
