97 Lifted EZ-GO CART
I have a 97 model EZ-GO cart that has been lifted. The problem im having is that it doesnt seem to have the battery life that it should. I havent driven it on hills or through mud only on flat roads and it seems to only go about 5 miles before it starts to lose power. You can hear the motor turning when you push the pedal to the floor but to keep the cart rolling you have to let off the pedal about half way and the motor will stop spinning and catch and you can keep moving. Any idea what my problem is. Im new with carts and I have no idea.

Sounds like you have weak batteries. You need to check the voltage on each battery, it's best to charge completely, let sit overnight then use volt meter to check voltage. Also a hydrometer will tell you how much life is left in them. I would bet you are in need of a new set of batteries.

Re: 97 Lifted EZ-GO CART
This was the 2nd year on this set. I had to replace the whole set so im hoping thats not the case. I only noticed the difference since I put the lift kit on.

When its fully charged its fine until you travel a few miles then you can tell a difference on power and torqe could that still be the problem?

You could have more than one problem. Test the batteries and check the hubs.

Re: 97 Lifted EZ-GO CART
Does it feel like the motor is spinning freely or more of a jerking, trying to pull? I have seen bad batteries do this also. If it feels like it is jerking than most likely it is a battery problem. If you hear it spinning freely than I would check hubs.
