87 marathon drop axle ????

who makes a drop axle for the 79 thru93 carts ? I have seen carts with them but cant find them online, will one from a 94 and up work ? Or IS it up to me to build one if I want one

From my days of having an 88 cart, I found none. Pretty much all great upgrades end with the late 1989 model. The older the cart the harder it gets. I only found block lifts for pre 1989 but no drop axle. I finally just sold mine because no front brakes existed. Carts from 2001 and up seem to be the industry sweep spot. You maybe able to make one work, but ya gonna have to MacGyver it.

I own a racecar/hotrod fab shop so building one isnt the problem but time is. I build a nice set of 5" billiet steel lift spindles for my clubcar awhile ago and thought about doing the same but seems like alot of work for a cart that sits at my vacation trailer and gets used every few months.
I have seen them with drop axles my neighbor has one but he just spends money and has no idea who made it

If you find one please post here. The front axle changed with the 1989 carts. The carts look the same, but are different. Either your neighbor has a 89 or later cart or had a custom job. Again, block lifts, which I went with, work well,are inexpensive and easy to find. If you can fab...well it's up to you.

his cart is an 81 and like I said he really doesent know much but dollars buy stuff. Whats the diff between the 89 and the older carts is it the way the spindles mont ? I think I may just do my own block lift since I will more than likely take the 20" tires off my other cart and use them on this cart and put 22" on the other for my wife and kids to use. I liked building the first cart, did alot of fiberglass repair on the body, club car DS, build the lift, build a rear seat frame with diamond plate step, new one piece seat back, diamound plate top, billiet alum cup holders, diamound plate skid plate. But with this cart I think I want to keep it simple maybe not bring the cart home just fab my lift and do the work at the river. I worry if it comes home I will tear it all down.
I really wanted the drop axle or was thinking of building one because it makes the front wider and looks a bit better

the difference I see, is that the axle is below the wheel joint with a pin through the joint from the bottom, the newer ones in the middle of the joint and has more of Y connection. If that makes any sense. I had 10 inch rims with 22inch tires on my 88 and it was pretty wide on the front. the 10inch rims had an off set also. you can also put wheel spaces to give it more of a wider stance. Like I said earlier, the old ezgo had sh*t brakes. the big tires only made it worse.
