91' EZGO Pot Box
I have a 1991 ezgo controller cart, I feel it is the the potentiometer. The batts are good and charged. How / Can you bypass the pot box to make sure it's not the controller? I read the ohms on it. It went from 0 - 6.85 but it looks like someone tried to adjust the linkage. Any ideas?

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
Thanks Scotty. I am leaning more towards the controller. I am not getting supply voltage across th B+ to M- with the accelerator pressed. The solenoid is firing and holding with the accelerator pressed. Any other options?

If all connections are solid and clean it sounds like controller to me. PM me if you looking for a straight up replacement or upgrade?

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
If you are getting voltage to the controller but no voltage coming out (via the B+ to M- test you posted), then it is a safe bet you have a faulty controller.

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
It was the controller. I found a used controller at the right price, free!! Now I think the linkage on the accelerator is off a little bit. When I press the accelerator, if I go over half way it stops accelerating. When I hold the accelerator at half throttle it runs at average speed (13-15 mph). Could there still be a problem with the pot box?

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
Are you saying you get full throttle in the first half of the peddle and no more speed in the second half of the peddle stroke? Check the pot out put with the ohm meter. On this cart you should 0-5k gradually from start to finish on the peddle stroke.

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
It's been a while since I last posted on this issue. So I have replaced the POT and controller and it is running..... and new batteries, but when I try to go up a small hill it will not go. On the level surface seems to do fine. Any ideas? The rear wheels turn freely when off the ground. I am getting 38.1 volts going to the controller on the blue wire with the accelerator pressed.... Could the pot need so fine tuning? Its reading 0 - 5.48 Ohms smoothly on acceleration... What next???

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
Pot sounds good. What size controller did you put in it? Weak or old batteries?

Re: 91' EZGO Pot Box
It is just a stock Curtis controller. It was in another cart that was running fine. The Batteries are 2011 brand new.
