charger question
I know my batteries are on their way out, but when I plugged in my charger today, the charger only jumped to 10 amps and the needle twitches. It has been pretty cold here lately and figured that the cold sucked out the last bit of life from the batteries.

Re: charger question
In cold temps with low batteries it may take awhile for the amperage to come up but it should. I don't see anything to worry about.

Re: charger question
I've had chargers start at low amperage and climb up to full, then decrease as the charge increases. Check the amperage about an hour or 2 after plugging it in and hopefully it will have risen.

Re: charger question
just went out and checked it again. The charger had shut off. Unplugged the charger, turned the key, hit the pedal and all it does is shudder. It's probably been plugged in for a hour or so. Plugged in the charger and the same thing, jumped to 10 amps but then quickly fell to 5 amps. I think the batteries are toast. Still haven't got a decent VM yet.

Re: charger question
How old are the batteries? You might get by with just putting in a good used one to make it last a little while longer.

Make sure all your battery connections are clean tight.

Re: charger question
connections are nice and clean, batteries are less than 1 1/2 yrs old, Trojan 875's......but I believe I've ruined them due to poor maintenance.

Re: charger question
hit the accelerator with the seat off and take individual voltage readings til you find the bad battery or batteries. You definately have 1 or more out of wack.

Re: charger question
can the bad ones be replaced? I thought you should only replace batteries as a set?
