Need some opinions fast!
Ok, Im wanting to build a simple hunting buggie. I dont have the money to buy a brand new cart but have found some good deals. Can i get some opinions on pros and cons on certain models? Im looking at a 1997 DCS with brand new batteries, in great condition....would there be a reason why i would need to stay away from that year model or would it be a great one to build?

Re: Need some opinions fast!
If you are building a hunting buggie, stay away from the Sepex carts (DCS and PDS). My personal opinion is to stay away from DCS carts completely regardless.....

They don't respond well to high load/low speed useage.

Re: Need some opinions fast!
My problem is that I either buy a 1997 or 98 model for under 1400$ or I buy a 2006 model for 2000$ I was trying to stay on the lower end so I could lift it and put tires on it. Is it really going to affect the way I go through the woods? Because in the near future a torque motor and controller will be added

Re: Need some opinions fast!
because the DCS cart was the "trial run" that E-Z-GO used to launch their Sepex system. After they sorted out the bugs in the system, they created the PDS cart.
The DCS cart has issues in a number of areas, the most evident being: Low voltage/High amperage will blow a controller Shifting from reverse to forward (or the other way around) while the cart is still in motion will blow the resistor/diode assembly. |

Re: Need some opinions fast!

Re: Need some opinions fast!
The TXT is just the base model name. In 2001 and 2006 they offered either PDS or Series. PDS would be denoted by a rocker switch on the dash for forward and reverse while the Series will have a forward and reverse level located in the middle of the body next to your right knee.
Absolutely do a Spindle lift as opposed to a drop axle. If you can afford it, the long travel kit is even better yet. 2001 and up have the steering box located on the front axle as opposed to earlier years that had the steering box mounted to the "firewall". Relocating the steering box to the axle made steering much easier. |
