3 wheel ezgo wiring trouble
I have wired everything according the the wiring diagrams on this site.
I have tested the (small wire) circuit and it all works perfectly thanks to my new ohmmeter... I then applied 12V and about 300AMPS, (a car starter) but the solenoid would not click on... I have a pre-medalist from the late 70s, and I am sure all the large wires are right, I tested them, followed the diagrams and even followed them with my own logic... My question, will a 36V solenoid only turn on with 12V and about 300amps? My second question, I have included a picture of all the components for the small wiring circuit... Can u fill it out for me??? If someone has allready filled it out, please go ahead and do a version yourself. You can download the pic, and use paint to draw the wires, and when wires cross, make them cross like this: + so I know which one is which... Thanks!!! If you need a bigger version of the pic, I can send it to your e-mail, I have one that I scanned with 600DPI if that will help (~5000 x ~3000) THANKS!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!! I don't want to have to buy batteries if the cart will just blow in my face again!!! |

Yeah, um, is there a way to test the circuit without the batteries???
And, I really need some help on this wiring diagram, like I said before, I have it wired up, and it seems like it should work, so I would appreciate it if someone could "compare notes" with me by downloading and editing the above picture in paint and draw in lines for the wires... Its a late 70s pre-medalist... THANKS!!! |

you need batteries...... If you want a 36v system to work you are going to need to provide a source of 36v power... So how do we test without power...?

Re: I need help, wired everything, PROBLEMS AROSE!!!
Can't remember exactly, but I think a 36v solenoid needs around 24v to activate. There was a discussion on the other site where folks used a 48v solenoid on a 36v system and it worked and CF confirmed. Point being that a 36v or 48v solenoid does not require full system voltage for activation.
For testing, try putting 2 12v batteries in series and see if the solenoid activates. Worth a shot? |

Take the selonoid out of the cart. Get two small peices of wire and attach one to each small terminal of the selonoid. Then hold one of them to your + car battery, touch the other one to the - of the car battery it should activate it.

Re: I need help, wired everything, PROBLEMS AROSE!!!
Thats technically what I did, I hooked up a 12v power source (~ 300amp car start mode) in place of batteries, and no clicks or anything... Your saying that if I try the solenoid seperately that it should 'click' on???
THANKS!!! |

...sighs...
I allready explained that I checked everything with my multimeter, my main problem is that I don't have a good wiring diag. The ones on the site are helpful for the BIG wires, but the small wires running to the switches aren't layed out as clearly... PLEASE, SOMEONE, fill in that picture for me (the pic is attachted to the original post...) |
