Default And So It Begins...98 TXT

Good evening. I scored a '98 series TXT yesterday...

...and plan on starting a rebuild/mod. It's in pretty decent shape and it came with a fair set of T105s. It came with the factory top, but apparently they aren't meant for interstate highway speeds...it was no longer present when I arrived home Oh well, probably wont need it anyway.

The first thing I did was to remove the rear dump cart. However, the seat back rest was attached to the bracket holding the dump cart and now I no longer have a backrest support. I'm sure a little cash can fix it though.

My plans are to lift, paint, upgrade wires, controllers etc., for now. Sometime in the future I'd like to bump it up to 48 volts and maybe even a motor upgrade.

Hopefully in a few short months I'll have a finished cart to enjoy. Any comments, suggestions, criticisms, or sarcastic remarks are welcome!

Thanks...Z

Hate it about the top, were you in the jetstream when it came off ? You must have been cooking.

As for the seat back, go find your local cart shop. Factory bag/seat back supports usually get thrown out after a rear seat is installed. My local guy has a dumpster full. Good looking find btw and welcome to the madness

I picked up the cart for $750...thought it was not too bad of a price. So far I'm trying to keep the budget under 3 g's, including the cart. That should be good for starters.

I've been known to play around in the jetstream, but this time I was on the flat and level and under 70. I'm thinking the front mount holes were cracked already and the top just went bye bye...

Thanks for the tip on the back supports!...and hopefully I'll still be sane at the end!

I have a buddy who used to transport for EZ and said the tops will come off and front seats will actually flip up around 95-100. Flat windshields are toast near 75. Glad I never got behind him Yes, he does not transport anymore..

Hauling a single axle trailer without trailer brakes at 75 and above is just silly in my opinion.... close to irresponsible when you consider other people may suffer consequences from your mistake....... Like i said I have never lost a roof we haul a lot

This whole project idea started out because of this...

...I only paid $50 for this thing but at least I can use it for target practice!...after I remove the motor of course. I have a feeling that $50 yard sale buy is going to get expensive!

Thank you libertybellcdr When you see a cart like that you have got to ask what do we have here? ; beyond the shell or hull of a cart? The answer may be ... not much... and then what of those components are desirable and work? You can have have a working resistor coil drive system and still be holding ... not much; in my opinion if it isn't solid state you are playing with 1980s technology.... that is fun for a day or 2 but then....... you want better performance & It is conversion time
