Default 2002 electric txt troubleshooting help needed

Purchased my first golf cart ever about 3 weeks ago. cart looks good and ran great. The other day, I was letting my grandson drive it and we stopped in the backyard to pick something up. I have been teaching him to set the brake every time and he did. when we got back on the cart he STOMPED the accelerator and the cart did not respond at all.

After reading a little bit in your helpfull forums, I decided to check the reed switch with a meter, it seems ok . The cart seems to charge, and the reverse alarm still works. Any idea what I should check next?

Ty for any help.

Is it a series or pds cart? Does the solenoid click when you try to go?

How do I tell which one it is?

Also, after sitting in the garage for several days, it seemed to be working again, but it lurched forward a few inches and is dead again.

I can hear the switch under the cart making when I press the accelerator, but thats it.

Is the directional switch a lever by the driver's knee or a toggle switch on the dash.

What is the battery pack total voltage?

The directional switch is a lever by my knee.

There are 6 Trojan batteries, So 6x6 = 36 volts?

What I meant was do you have a voltmeter to give us an actual pack voltage reading?

your batterys are toast with that voltage. Thats only a 20% charge. Are you letting it charge till it cuts off?
