Default Exploding rivets

I am talking about the rivets that hold the dash to the front cowl. I know there 3/16 by 1" but I don't know if they are considered large or small I guess they are talking about the head size.

If the 3/16 your talking about is the head size, that would be small.

if the stem is 3/16 that would be large.

rivets come in different sizes and configurations. drill one out and take it to the hardware store. when I replace rivets I like to go to the next larger size for a good tight fit.

Rivets are sized by shank diameter and shank length. Therefore a 3/16by 1inch rivet would have a3/16 inch diameter shanh and a 1 inch long shank. Head shape and size is determined by Countersunk head or Universal head design, head size can also be large or small depending on the material to be rivited. Soft materialso like plastics meed a large universal head and an oversized hole (in the plastic part being riveted) t to prevent damage to the parts being attached.

Why don't you order them by part number (71055-G01). All the suppliers have them. They are 3/16" by 1" long large (LG) aluminum rivets.

Though they are an inch long, their "grip" is 3/8". When you see them, you will notice that they are split down the side. The normal pop rivets are measured as Shank X Grip. I.E. A 3/16 X 3/8 is 3/16 in diameter with a 3/8 the thickness it will grip. The 71055-G01 for the dash to front cowl are listed as 3/16 X 3/8 but are an inch long. The split down the side makes them fan out for a wide grip area like a toggle bolt. Don't try the hardware store version, you will be sorry.

I got those at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. Pack of 6 was something like $2 if even that. They are easy to remove and re-useable.
