Swaping F&R handle with contactor
I stole this topic from PQ forums, but there is more traffic on this forum
http://www.plumquick.com/forum/ez-go...the-fr-handle/ How many have replaced your F&R switch/handle/arm with a contactor? seems like this will free up some room under the seat for 8 batteries. What is the down side/up side? Thanks, |

Re: Swaping F&R handle with contactor
I worry about the 24v draw. is this a continous draw?
Let me know how it goes. |

Re: Swaping F&R handle with contactor
24v is the activation circuit, It uses 24v to draw the contacts together and make the connection or contact as it is called. This is the same way your present 36v or 48v solenoid operates. You do not need to worry about any unusual draw.

Re: Swaping F&R handle with contactor
Thanks Scottyb,
I guess the confusing part to me is the 24v contactor is used to activate the 36v or 48v solenoid. is that right? Also, do you see any down side to this setup, or up side? |

Re: Swaping F&R handle with contactor
Contactors and solenoid work in the same principle they current to create a magnetic field which pulls the contacts together. The contacts make / break the circuit. That is the big amperage, 48v or 72v whatever you are running. The activation circuit is in this case 24v which is being used to "activate" the switch only. Once the switch is activated the big voltage runs thru the contacts.... all solenoids work in this manner.
I hope this helps. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/misc.php?do=donate |
