Amp and Speaker Purchase - I need technical advice
2nd Post - Still don't own a golf cart.
I am purchasing an amp and speakers for my golf cart and want to make sure I've got it all correct. 2007 36 Volt EZ-GO. New Trojan batteries and a new 36-12V 25 amp reducer. I am going to buy a universal fuse box as well to run more accessories off of. I have a light kit installed and will be adding the amp and speakers as soon as my cart is painted and reassembled. I have no technical knowledge of anything electric but I am excited to enjoy the learning experiece on this forum and with my golf cart. Let's just call her the EZ-CHIEF (see attached photo, photoshopped the color and decals). Before I pull the trigger on the amp and speakers, I was hoping someone could confirm for me that I have all the right equipment. Thanks in advance. The description of the amp I am buying is below. It is a Pyle PLMRMP3A 4 Channel Waterproof MP3/ Ipod Marine Power Amplifier 4 x 100 Watts RMS at 4 Ohms - Anti-Thump Turn-On - Volume Gain Remote Control - Fuse : 10A 4 x 200 Watts Max at 4 Ohms - Soft Turn On/Off - T.H.D: <0.05% - Dimensions: 6.10''Lx3.35''Wx1.38''H 4 x 300 Watts RMS at 2 Ohms - Adjustable High Low Level Inputs - S/N Ratio: >95dB - Accessories: Electronic Crossover Network - RCA Line Input - Channel Separation: >65dB - iPod / MP3 Waterproof 3.5mm Stereo to RCA Adaptor 2 Ohms Stereo Stable - Power Protection Circuitry - Frequency Response: 10Hz- 40kHz - Remote control for Volume Gain I am also purchasing PYLE PLMR61B 120 Watts 6.5-Inch 2 Way Black Marine Speakers Please let me know if I'm heading in the right direction. I want to make sure I get this right. Thanks, |

Thats alot of watts on that convertor. I would also add a CAP to pop the bass and help take some load off the convertor when you have it cranked up.

it stores up power and when the amp needs it quickly its there. All good systems use them.

A cap is useless. You get one quick surge of power, then how is it going to recharge.
I would run an extra battery. I use a group 27 Marine deep cycle trolling battery. I have used it continuous for over 5 hours without dying and plenty of juice left |
