Default How long should I "condition" my batteries on each charge?

I have a new onboard charger and it allows for 2, 3, 4 or 6hrs of conditioning on every charge cycle.
What I gather from the paper work is that I should set the conditioning for 4hrs for standard size GC batteries.
My batteries are brand new so to me 4hrs of conditioning seems excessive.
The batteries are really gassing a lot while in the conditioning stage!

I would think that new batteries would not need much if any time conditioning on every charge.

What are your suggestions for the amount of time that batteries should spend getting conditioned? When new? When old?

Thanks,

Sorry, it is a 2005 TXT PDS, 36V (6x6v) with new US Battery 1800XC batteries.
Charger is a ProTech 36v -16amp onboard 3 stage charger.

New batteries are not up to 100% of their capacity, more like 75%. It will take as many as 150 cycles for them to reach their full capacity according to the Trojan Battery Company. Your new batteries need proper break in usage and lots of conditioning to reach their full potential. Your charger is set up for Trojan wet cell batteries right out of the box. This setting is good for any wet cell golf cart battery pack. Plug it in and let it run

Thank you, Sir

These new smart chargers leave the old transformer type chargers behind in the stone ages... These smart chargers weigh only 8-9 pounds and pack a powerful punch. I have never had my batteries perform better or be more ready to go. Our custom harnes allows you to connect directly to the battery pack and plug the charger in as you please or mount it on board and leave it plugged in to maintain the pack at 105%. This 100% charge makes freezing and stops sulfation of the plates in idle batteries.

Scotty, that sounds great b/c of the sulfation issue. Does this charger replace the existing battery charger ( total charge III )? Or do you hook this up after using your charger? What is it called?

This is a battery charger and maintainer with a float mode which it automatically goes into after the charge is complete. It is from Protech and there is more info and pics on my website.

My friend and I have this charger also and love it! I got mine from another dealer that didn’t offer any tech support but I see that Scottyb sells them. For anyone reading this and considering a charger……..if I had it to do over again I would have definitely bought it from Scottyb. He helped me with questions on mine and I didn’t even buy it from him. That’s a good guy
