Default Lack of resistor cause cart not to go?

With some help from you all I've done some upgrading and refreshing on my '97 TXT. But in doing so I removed EVERYTHING from the back half of the cart and then after paint reinstalled with new wires and an alltrax controller. However....the resistor on the selonoid happened to brake so when I reinstalled everything I skipped the resistor...thinking I just wanna make sure I wired everything right and then I'll find a resistor.

Cart don't run...figures....I have a red 3 blink on the controller saying the throttle did not go to zero....or something. Followed some diagnostics on here and I appear to have success through the F&R switch, reed switch, ignition, pedal and to the sololoid. Selonoid clicks and I have 36v on one side and with pedal down and cart on I have 3 volts on the second side. Diagnostics say I should have 33volts or higher. So....does a $2 part really keep the cart from running?????

I've got two on order, but I'm worried I'm missing something else....it was tough to follow the wiring diagram to rewire the whole cart.

The fault code might be telling you that you are not getting the controller powered up before the throttle is applied. You have a 'high peddle disable' situation. Small Terminal #1 must have pack voltage positive before throttle is applied. Try working in that area.

Hm.....interesting....I pretty much pop the master switch on, turn the key switch and hit the gas. So that would make sence.....I'll take a look.

Your Alltrax controller will have a green light lit when it is ready for throttle input.

Thanks Scotty.

Can a resistor in place on the selonoid increase the voltage on the controller side? 36V on battery side is reduced to 3V on controller side.

I'm not sure I understand this question. Resistors reduce not increase amperage.

From the Diagnostics Post at the top of the threads under DCS.

"Place the (+) probe to the controller side of the solenoid's large post. The reading should be 0.1 to 3 volts less than battery voltage.
If the reading is more than 3 volts less the battery voltage, the resistor is faulty.
If the voltage is the same as the battery voltage, replace the solenoid."

This basically says that lower voltage is actually the sign the resistor is faulty....sounds backwards, but it is the situation I have with the missing resistor. Just curious is this causes the card not to go....I guess its obvious it does.

The cart will run without the resistor. Alltrax suggest you do not run without the resistor to protect their controller from spikes in voltage.

Ok, looked into the controller being powered up. I assume it should power up when the key is turned on. I do not have a power up with the key on. I looked at the wiring diagram and it says red wire to controller 1 is from key switch.....when I turn key on I have no power in this wire. When I hit the gas I have 36 volts. This wire appears to come from the key but through the pedal. So does alltrax want me to modify this and run a pigtail off the green wire from the key switch? Or is there something wrong in my pedal? If I hit the gas I have voltage though. Please help! Seems like I'm so close to getting this thing running.
