Default Series or regen, that is the question

So every time I ask for information on my cart, I always get the questions 'Is it a series cart?' Like when I'm seeking a part, or something.

The issue is, it's neither. I've completely stripped it to the frame, and it's going to be whatever I decide it to be. Be that AC conversion, series, regen...whatever. Since the frames are nearly all identical, I don't feel I have any restrictions on which way to go.

So the question is, with nothing to start with other than a frame, which would YOU do and why?

I'm not an EZGO owner bur a CC man , the series is the best for my application which is the need for as much speed as I can get for the money.
With the regen carts , from the factory they are restricted to 19.5 MPH unless U defeat something which always cost $$.
But if I were building for children then I'd choose regen for the breaking and the fact that the theory is the regenerative(thus the name) voltage is added back to the pack.
AC I have no experience.

If money is no object, the AC conversion is VERY good. If the budget is limited, Series is the way to go. Regen is nice for golf courses and neighborhood cruising.

I'm going to put a pencil to this and see what the difference in cost really is....I'm guessing it's not too far off once you factor in the lifespan of an AC motor vs a brush motor. Especially a high end DC....

I'll take that as a no.

Hey Gorno, do you have one? I have some questions for anyone that has the AC conversion.

No, I'm a 48vdc conversion with a PQ motor.

Knowing what I know now, I would rather have had a series cart vs a PDS for my application. With that being said, if I ever do this again, it will be AC. It's more expensive but honestly, doesn't seem all that much more to me if you buy all the right goodies for DC...like I just did. I'd bet that the price difference is probably worth it given what I've read about the improved longevity and performance of the AC conversion. Of course, I could be wrong.

I know that OT just bought the big time AC stuff for his cart. Maybe he'll chime in here. I personally did not find any conversions other than the one at golf cart catalog that you mentioned.
