Speed fluctuates while driving?
First post... New to the group!
I just picked up a 2003 EZ-GO for rec use in the neighborhood. The person I bought it from added a lift kit and larger tires. Very clean install and overall cart. I've only had the cart a few weeks... but notice that the cart will actually slow down while cruising for about 30-60 sec... then pick up speed back to normal. I also noticed, that sometime when moving from a cold start, the same will happen... almost like it needs to "warm up". Do the size of the tires make a difference? Battery information is shown below? Or is it something with the motor/computer? The batteries consisted of: (2) 605 trogan's... less than 2 months old (reciept in hand) (3) 605 trogan's... approx one year old (1) 105 trogan's... approx one year old I used a hydrometer to test all the batt's and all were fine except the 105 which almost had no reading. So I swapped it for a new 605. |

Re: Speed fluctuates while driving?
Does the cart have a direction selector toggle switch on the dash?

Re: Speed fluctuates while driving?
Are you referring to "forward/reverse". If so... NO, I do not have a switch.
I have a mechanical lever under the seat. The wiring on the cart is very simple. But I am not 100% what is right and wrong. I started looking at some manuals recently. The only "aftermarket" wiring appears to be headlights/taillights. The cart model has "Workhorse 800" decals on the sides. |

Re: Speed fluctuates while driving?
Yours is a Series cart. The Cause could be worn motor brushes or a faulty ITS (inductive throttle sender).

Re: Speed fluctuates while driving?
Scotty,
Thanks for the direction... I checked out website... very informative! So to fix the brushes, the motor needs to come off. Do you happen to have any pics or links to motor removal? I know its pretty straight forward, but figured I check them out before I start turning bolts. Also... do you have any more info on the ITS? Same reason as above... Is this the device connected to the forward/reverse lever? Thanks again for your help and direction, |

Re: Speed fluctuates while driving?
I spoke too early about the ITS. I just google'd it now... I see what it is now.
When this things wears... can it be cleaned up? Or does it have to be replaced? Is there is a way to test it? |

Re: Speed fluctuates while driving?
The ITS rarely fails... when it does it usually has been wet, very wet.
