Default 01 ezgo

My EZGO has over size tires and lift kit. Other than that it is stock.

During the winter I can ride this thing all day and have no problems but when it starts warming up outside I may get 30 minutes out of her and she gets really slow. It will get to a point where it will not move at all. If you sit there for a couple minutes she will go again and I have to repeat the stop and go procedure ever couple minutes. I know this has to be a heat issue as it has no problems during the winter.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you are getting the controller into thermal overload. It shuts down until it cools and goes again until it gets too hot ....

You need to upgrade the controller/solenoid package and possibly the cables and F&R switch to handle the increased amperage.

If i upgrade the controller/solenoid and F&R switch, should I just go ahead and upgrade the motor? If so what do you recommend?

Thumbs up Re: 01 ezgo

Is it a PDS cart? F/R switch on the dash?
Or
Series cart F/R between your legs?

PDS carts don't like riding slow or under load for any long peroid of time.
Check all your connections to make sure it's not heating up anywhere else in the system. Heat is loss of power.
The stock motor will handle 400 amp controller easy.

F/R switch is on the dash. There is a module under the seat that has a toggle switch that you can select between tow.maint/run. That gets pretty warm. I wouldn't say extremely hot but its pretty warm.

Question Re: 01 ezgo

PDS cart is what you have.
Start out buy checking every connection on the cart. Put the cart in tow. Take each nut that has a cable on it and make sure they are tight even under the cover with the switch.
Make sure there is no sign's of crud on any of the connections none even under them. Check the speed magnet on the drivers side of motor also. Take drivers wheel off and pull the c clip out of the end of the motor and check the magnet and senor both.

Its been a long time since I have last posted but a lot has happened since my last post. I finally decided to go ahead and dump some cash into my cart. I have done some research and this is what I came up with.

D & D Motor 170-502-0001 Peak hp-8.9, torque =40%, 12mph(dont need much speed)
D & D controller 600 Amp – PDS
Solenoid Kit w/diode, resistor, & mounting brackets w/hardware
wiring kit

I also need some suggestions on a decent charger. Please let me know what you guys think.
