Quit running while in motion
I have a 2004 EZGO TXT Series cart with lift, rear seat, 22"tires, 09 Batteries, stock controller and motor. I've been having a problem with it going from reverse to forward. Sometimes it would stick in one gear or the other and I would have to rock the shifter back and forth to get it to go. I do hear the solenoid clicking.
I've been noticing a burning smell coming from the cart lately and when I touched the controller cover it was hot to the touch. Well today I was cruising around in it and it just quit. Any ideas? |

Re: Quit running while in motion
Probably burned the controller and you need to also rebuild your F-N-R switch.
Put a 6ga wire across the large terminals on the solenoid, if the cart doesn't run, it's likely the controller. |

Re: Quit running while in motion
Well if it's the controller I've been thinking about buying the Torque/Speed kit from buggies unlimited, can anyone tell me Good or Bad about it? Would I see a significant difference from stock?

Re: Quit running while in motion
look at your f-n-r switch. I have a feeling you have a couple of burnt contacts sice you said it is hard to go from F to R Get yourself a HD switch and a 4 ga cable kit. replace all and you are set. I did 2 like this yesterday.

Thanks Courtesy Carts,
It is the F n R switch. I saw the two burnt cables, one end has completely burnt up. Anyone know Why it would do that? |

Re: Quit running while in motion
I have seen this in stock carts that work in steep terrain. I have seen it in modified carts that didn't upgrade everything they needed to to balance the increased amperage handling capacity

What else would I need to do to balance everything? Controller and wires?

Re: Quit running while in motion
I'm running the same kit, but the good thing is that they now have Alltrax controllers. When I got mine almost 3 yrs ago it came with a different brand controller, which was good and never had a problem with. YES, you'll definately see a difference over stock if you go with that kit. BUT, if you look into PQ, have them rewind your curent motor and buy a controller seperately you'll have the same performance and save youself a'lot of money. Wish I was a member on this site when I made my switch and coulda save myself some bucks. Are you currently running 48v?
