Re: Converting over to 48 volt system???
You will need a 48v controller and a way to charge. If you go to a higher amp controller, 4ga wiring would be needed.

Re: Converting over to 48 volt system???
Your motor will like running on 48v. Raising to 48v is a major change in performance. If you need more you can upgrade motor later. A 400-500 amp controller should do. It will handle the amps needed to turn taller, more aggressive tires. Just be sure to match contoller voltage to battery output. They are voltage sensitive.

Re: Converting over to 48 volt system???
I am Assuming your cart is a series cart and is convertable....You can make this work with eight 6v batteries. Logisystems makes a nice 48v - 480 amp controller. They sell new on ebay for $275. I'm not familiar with your cart but, if you have a solenoid it too will need to be upgraded to handle 48v. Your battery cables should be upgraded to 4 gauge to handle the higher amperage. These include the ones to the F/R switch and the motor...
The boost in voltage will increase torque by 30%. Hope this helps? |

Re: Converting over to 48 volt system???
I know this is a stupid question.I am running 6 6volt batteries right now. Can't I add just 1 12volt battery to get 48 volts?

Re: Converting over to 48 volt system???
Technically you can do that.....but you may cause harm to your other batteries or the 12 volt you added.
