PDS info
New to electric golf cart ownership, just bought a 07 ez-go pds 6" lift, 10" wheels, 22 x 11 tires, w/hill chip, original Jan. 07 batteries.....purchased this for a hunting vehicle, runs fast on flat ground, if you go up a minimum grade it slows down to almost a crawl. The man I bought it from said the batteries all the tested good. Is this normal? Wasn't what I expected!!

Re: PDS info
I would check the batteries first. Make sure you didn't have a battery problem. 1 battery can cause problems. I have bought carts before that held a charge as long as you never drove them. Can you see the code on the negative battery post? Are they may have a sticker on them.

Re: PDS info
If they are 07 batteries, chances are that their done for, but you can't know until you check some voltages, read thru the stickys about checking batteries.

Re: PDS info
Also larger tires, original controler, and old batteries are not gonna climb hills fast. Try pulling the chip out and flip the run tow switch. See if it gets any better. You may be in need of battery and controler upgrade.

Re: PDS info
Thanks guys for the info....just bought this cart took the cover off the controller found no hill chip went back to the guy I bought it from and got the chip, installed it, will pull the hills better now.....batteries don't last very long. Gonna try testing all the batteries and maybe just purchase new ones. What size and brand controller upgrade do you recommend and if I upgrade the controller do I need to upgrade cables or anything else.

Re: PDS info
1: make sure batts are good
2: make sure you have 4ga cables, if not replace all 3: still not satisfied than get yourself a 400 amp alltrax controller and HD solenoid. 4: still not enough, than replace motor with a bigger one 5: still not enough, convert to 48v 6: still want more, get 700 amp controller, bigger motor and go 48v. not tryin to be an a$$, but here is the way i would do it. |
