Default Batteries or charger

I have a 1995 Ezgo electric txt with a powerwise charger. I think the batteries are 3-4 years old. I can charge the batteries and after going back to the golf course a few days later (sometimes 2 weeks) the charger will always charge after i unplug the charger at the cart. The charger will jump to 20 amps, then 15 after 5 minutes or so and slowly go down like it should. I am barely getting 9 holes in so today i checked the voltage when I got there and it had only sat for 2 days after a full charge. All the batteries were reading 6.6 volts and overall was 39.6 volts (i did undo all cables) put everything back and paid for a gas cart for 9 holes. Charged for an hour and a half and took the cart out. It always works fine till we get to hole 4 which is a pretty good hill, after that i barely get nine holes which is mostly downhill. If I wait 2 weeks after a charge, it will hardly go. So I was wondering if the charger is not keeping a maitanance charge or the batteries are just bad? Thanks

The charger does not maintain the charge. It charges and shuts off. The batteries normally loose about 1% of their charge each day they are left idle.

You are describing older batteries that are loosing their ability to hold a charge.

Question Re: Batteries or charger

The power wise chargers as Scottyb stated want do a maintance charge. Once it cuts off it's off until you un plug it and plug it back in.
