marine cd player or car audio cd players??
I am curious what most of you install in your carts. Are you using marine cd players or car audio cd players? I know it depends on if your cart is going to be getting wet much and the answer is no. Im not planning on driving it out in the rain. My other question is if the answer is car audio cd players they are 12v. Would I need a resisitor for it to operate correctly? I am new to the cart world and have already asked a couple questions on here and this group is excellent with the help! Thank you for any input you can give me.

You need a source of 12 v. I use a seperate marine battery as an AUX supply. Some guys simply use two 6 volt batteries in their 36 volt pack as 12 v for radio and accessories, and some use a voltage reducer. The reducer has one drawback in that depending on how it's hooked up you cannot maintain radio memory. |

I would obviously like to keep memory for the radio but at the same time I heard you have to rotate your batteries if you do hook the cd player up to the batteries bc they will not wear even. Does that make sense?

Another option is to use just an amp/speakers made for connecting an MP3 player. When you want to wash it, pull out the MP3 and wash away.

I am looking to add a light kit with signals and brake lights. What would be my best bet now?

Re: marine cd player or car audio cd players??
I use last years boat stereo I use a regular automotive type stereo and speakers. I keep the cart inside when it's not in use.
Last time I bought a "marine" stereo, it failed the same year and I was told by the manufaturer that "it's not submersible!" and "it has obviously been saturated at one point". I've been using a regular car stereo for over 30 years in my boats, except that one time. |
