Thumbs down Is this a bad thing?

Why are my resistors getting so hot and starting to smoke? i have 2 new napa batteries (had 3, brought 3rd back since it was leaking from cap) an energizer, and 3 deka batteries. just replaced the wiper board and arm, and cleaned most of my corrosion.

ps: sorry for the low image quality

Lightbulb Re: Is this a bad thing?

More than likely they are touching one another are just getting old and britle. If they are broke cracked are touching against one another they will do this. If you ride slowly and never floor board it they do this. If the wiring isn't right that could cause it.

Ahh HAa! You have a solenoid either welded shut or an a solenoid activation circuit on constantly
And ~ You have a speed wiper not returning all the way to Zer0.

The situation is that the throttle position device ( speed wiper ) is telling the cart you want to go and the solenoid which the MAIN power cut off is on.

Disconnect the battery main until you can sort this out or the batteries will drain or the cart will burn or BOTH!

You need a digital voltmeter to test if the solenoid is welded or constantly activated.

Do you have one? If so what is the battery pack voltage?

Cool Re: Is this a bad thing?

Well when you only give part of the info it's really hard to tell you what is wrong!

Spend the money on a digital voltmeter at any big box store; wally world, HD, Lows, & others. Every sparky owner needs one.

I just answered a post by a fella that bought an expensive HD solenoid, resistor, and diode and still had the same problem..... guess what, it was a solenoid activation problem ~ Not a solenoid problem ...
